Community Church of Taichung is a congregation of "dandelions".

While many local Taiwan citizens are part of our fellowship, CCT's members generally come to Taichung, Taiwan from all over the world for many different purposes: Some come to do business, or to act as as advisors or consultants, some come to serve as missionaries, some to teach or administrate, and some to take advantage of Taiwan's labor needs.

The nature of our membership helps to shape the "mix" of our program. For example, our children's and youth programs are populated with many "BKs" (Business kids) and "MKs" (Missionary Kids). Since our membership comes from a wide range of church tradition and worship experience, we make a special effort "to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace." Although our Sunday morning Body Life fellowship of praise and the Word is conducted in English, we also sponsor Bible studies and fellowships in other languages – such as Chinese and Tagalog – from time to time on Sundays and during the week.

Generally, CCT's dandelions are "wafted by the wind of God's Spirit" into our section of God's field, put down temporary "roots", and then, when re-assigned, or their visas expire, they sail away back home — or on to assignments in other parts of the world. Their stays in Taiwan vary from several weeks to several years.

The comings and goings among our membership explain why CCT wastes no time in getting acquainted with incoming "dandelions". We are eager to discover each newcomer's areas of spiritual gifting and to find out how we can act to meet personal or family needs as he/she enters our community. Our goal is to see every member enabled to serve and be served through our fellowship of mutual service – whether their time among us is measured in weeks or years.

Our Purpose

Community Church of Taichung (CCT) exists to “prepare God's people for works of service, so that the Body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ."

Outreach

We believe in the public proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all people, locally and throughout the world. Therefore, we desire to be personally involved in this ministry by...

  • Maintaining a life-style which attracts others to Christ.
  • Supporting local ministries whose purposes are similar to ours.
  • Supporting those who are called to minister in other parts of the world.

Our Membership

CCT attracts a diverse fellowship of believers from many national, ethnic, occupational, and church traditions.
We believe in believers’ baptism as a public testimony of the finished work of Christ in bringing the believer from spiritual death to life. Believing that immersion is presented in the New Testament as the best picture of this testimony, that is what we both teach and practice. We nevertheless welcome for fellowship those whose understanding or experience of baptism is different than ours.
We encourage all who attend our church to first seek the face of God and his leading in prayer, and then actively seek to serve the needs and interests of other CCT members and of the community at large through practical ministry.

Ministry

At CCT, we understand “works of service” to encompass all that the Church does in meeting the spiritual, physical, emotional, social and material needs of God's household. This also includes all that we do to minister to the spiritual and other personal needs of those in our surrounding community who are still “without hope and without God in the world”.
In the adopting, enabling, and overseeing of these “works of service” in the Body, CCT's elders seek to emulate the Apostles in the new-born Body of Christ. We want to hear from CCT's members about their vision of ministry needs and possibilities. Then, sharing their vision, the elders direct their time and energy toward helping vision become reality through.—

  • Prayer and the ministry of the Word.
  • Preparation of each member to apply his or her gifts, abilities and experience to filling ministry “gaps”.
  • Stewardship and wise allocation of our resources to meet the Body's internal and external ministry needs.

Leadership

All who minister the Word at Community Church of Taichung view the process of “preparing God’s people for works of service” as their primary spiritual directive and responsibility.

Prayer First

Community Church's leaders put prayer and the ministry of the Word first in priority in approaching practical ministry, as did the leaders in the Early Church.

Our History

Community Church of Taichung was formally birthed on November 8, 1992, following the election and appointment of biblically qualified elders. Our roots are in a Sunday worship for students and missionaries offered by our predecessor, Taichung Community Chapel. In June, 1994, we called a pastor to work alongside the elders in accomplishing CCT's purposes.
